Reusable produce bags

It is difficult to use the plastic produce bags in the grocery store, so I found some small cotton draw-string bags. I can easily shop for produce with one hand.  Not only are the bags easy to use, they are re-useable and environmentally friendly. They come in different sizes. Find them at Amazon.

CamelBak Bottle with Bite Valve

I found these CamelBak bottles very easy to use.  Even though I only can use one hand, I can open and close them using my teeth on the plastic handle.  This helps when I am filling and emptying the bottle.

Here is more about the product:

Amazon Product Description:  The CamelBak Better Bottle represents a new standard of performance and convenience in re-usable water bottles. Available in multiple colors and in three sizes--1 liter, 0.75 liter, and 0.5 liter--this innovative bottle is also BPA- and Phthalate-free. The bottle's integrated handle makes it easy to carry with the crook of a finger or clip to a backpack with a carabiner. CamelBak's Big Bite Valve offers a proven design that contains no moving parts--just bite and sip for easy hydration. The cap fits most other bottles and the Better Bottle attaches to most water filters and fits in most cup holders. It's dishwasher safe.
Amazon sells these, please follow this link:  here

Right hand splint

"The SaeboStretch® uses a revolutionary stretch technology, which allows the fingers to move through flexion caused by associated reactions and tone. In addition, it utilizes a low-load, long-duration stretch to return the fingers to the desired position. The SaeboStretch overcomes issues which can result from traditional splints including deformity, joint damage, hypermobility, and contractures."  SaeboStretch web

Check saebostretch for more information.

Cord Stops

The cord stop works great with one hand.  I use it on my sweat pants and anything that has a drawstring.    You can find it at Amazon and at craft stores.

Steering knob

One of my biggest acheivements was earning my driver license again after I had my stroke.  I use my left foot to work the pedals, but steering one-handed was a challange.

I bought this steering knob from Amazon. It makes turning the steering wheel very easy with one hand. I drive myself everywhere now, even on road trips!

Shoe Lace

Tying shoes one-handed is a challenge. I found two ways to get around it.

1.  Yankz Sure Lace System - You can also get these at Amazon or at any running store.

The Yankz shoelaces are very handy, but they do cost some money.

2.  I found a way to tie my shoes one-handed, and this method works with regular shoelaces. Click the link to learn how (One Handed Shoelace Knot) and watch me in my video.

Another tip is velcro closings.  There are lots of shoes with velcro closings, I use them for casual wear,    but they aren't good for my feet.  I have supination in my ankle so, I wear shoes that are lateral posted to decrease the supination.  Running shoes are the best and the good ones have shoe laces.  This is why I found a way to be able to wear shoes that are good for my feet.  Your feet may be different, and velcro closings might be a good solution.
